Antique Bicycle

Seen at the closing sale of the "Main St. USA" antique store.  Not sure if this is just decorative, or if it ever was functional.  But if it was, I sure hope it had some 6" of padding...
By the way, I grew up with Dutch bicycles.  A Dutch bicycle compares to any other bicycle like a sofa compares to a folding chair.

Rattler

Look who is lounging here, catching the sun, and waiting for prey in my backyard.  A large diamond back rattlesnake.

A member of the nightshade family.  Poisonous, but the berries are edible when ripe.

Ancient Oak

Another ancient oak tree.  Spring has sprung, and life goes on, even though some of the old limbs are coming down to lighten the load.

We have lots of great musicians, and they all like to get together for some good old fashioned jammin'.

It's spring - high time to get the garden going.  This little one is watching over the basil...

Embedded

There's a wheel stuck in this tree, and it's been there for a long time.  Chances are, we'll never know how it got there in the first place.  Seen on Paradise Lane.

Not exactly cobblestones, but a close up of the nice flow in the wood grain of a decaying oak tree.

Shrooms

Steve's basket, on a recent mushroom foray.  We're looking at Amanitas (not edible), an Elfin Saddle and those bright yellow , spongy ones.  Forgot the name but they turned out delicious in a frying pan with a bit of olive oil and salt & pepper.

NYBD

New York Bagel & Deli on Wilshire Blvd in Santa Monica.  There aren't any local bakeries in Topanga...  As the Citydailyphoto website is down, I seem to recall Bakeries are the theme for today.  IMHO the best bakery on Wilshire is the Huckleberry Cafe.  But they are in such a busy blur, it's hard to get a picture.
